The COBRA web page at www.dol.gov/COBRA has been updated to add: 1. A link to IRS Guidance for COBRA premium reduction recipients who later become eligible for other health coverage on notifying their former employer to avoid a penalty

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has instituted a number of changes to the COBRA regulations. The IRS released their guidance on the COBRA subsidy for employers. 01/01/2009 - IRS Announces Increased Mileage Rate for 2008!
Beginning January 1, 2009, reimbursement for mileage expenses incurred as a result of medical care will reimbursed at $0.24 per mile. The medical rate was 19 cents in the first half and 27 cents in the second half of 2008.

07/01/2008 - IRS Announces Increased Mileage Rate for 2008!
Beginning July 1, 2008, reimbursement for mileage expenses incurred as a result of medical care will reimbursed at $0.27 per mile. Eligible mileage incurred prior to July 1, 2008 will be reimbursed at $0.19 per mile.
